Visit Aberdeen City
The Granite City, The Flower of Scotland, The Silver City by the Golden Sands…Aberdeen wears its titles with pride. A prosperous cosmopolitan city, with a historical old town, Aberdeen has one of Scotland's most striking skylines. A quintessentially northern city, whose granite makes buildings sparkle after rain; whose outlook is across the seas rather than to the Central Belt; and whose speech retains the Scots idiom as part of everyday communication.
And the Northeast of Scotland, with the city of Aberdeen at its economic if not geographic centre, has everything for the visitor or tourist - the high Grampian mountains, a coastline that ranges from jagged cliffs to sandy beaches, forested slopes, heather clad moor land, winter skiing and Victorian Royal Deeside.
Aberdeen and the Northeast of Scotland play host to a range of International festivals, exhibitions. The area is in fact home to several national and international corporations and is the centre of North Sea oil exploration and production.
So Aberdeen sparkles not just because of the glint of the granite but as a result of the economic prosperity which is based on North Sea Oil - and its 'flower power'. The city regularly wins prizes for its displays of flowers - where else would you find the central reservation of a dual-carriageway ring road filled with roses? Aberdeen has won the 'Britain in Bloom' competition many times.
A recent survey showed that Aberdeen is the most prosperous city in Britain outside of the South East of England.
The City of Aberdeen with a proud and fascinating history presents a modern cosmopolitan image to visitors. A thriving cultural calendar, lively theatre, and vibrant nightlife, along with excellent restaurants and attractions makes Aberdeen an energising city break choice.
